MEET BARNES!!!
This guy was nothing like what we expected. He’s done so well since arriving and is a cuddly and loving boy. We also took his dad (Noble) who is also posted.
His previous owner said she had him for five weeks and could not even touch him 🤷♀️. We think it was the environment he was in as we were able to handle him the first day and within just two days he fully trusts his foster family and is a playful, snuggly and happy guy!!
Barnes is a 1 year old, male, chihuahua mix. He weighs 8 Pounds and is full grown.
He will be neutered, up to date on vaccines and will be microchipped as part of his adoption. He is thankfully Heartworm negative.
Barnes is a bit of a nervous guy. It takes a day or two to fully warm up to new people but once he does he’s a super sweet dog that wants nothing but to be cuddled and loved on. He loves to be carried around and held.
He does well with other dogs of all sizes. We haven’t seen him with cats but we suspect he would do well. He is not fostered with kids but would likely do well with kids old enough and respectful enough to not treat him like a toy. He will need a day or so to trust everyone in the house. Kids need to be able to give him space at first.
Barnes is crate trained. He currently sleeps in his crate great at night. He rides well in the car. He is pretty good on a leash. He’s done very well with basic potty training but still marks his territory indoors. His upcoming neuter should help with that.
He currently has a medium energy level. He’s becoming more playful as he comes out of his shell. He is starting to like squeaky toys and enjoys walks but so far mostly likes to hang out and cuddle.
He has not shown any aggression over food, treats or toys with dogs or humans. He does need to be leash walked in your yard until he trusts you or he won’t come back inside. It only takes a few days to gain his trust.
He is slower to warm up to men but already loves his foster dad. He just needs some extra time to feel safe around people.
If you’re looking for a sweet shy guy to hang around and cuddle with then he may be your guy!!
