Hippo

READ THE ENTIRE POST!!! Yes he’s ridiculously adorable but this breed mix it definitely not for everyone. He will be a ton of work, training and dedication.

This guy is beautiful but he’s the result of reckless breeding for profit. Both of his breeds have attitude issues and his color doesn’t belong to either breed so we know his breeders “pedigree papers” he came with are crap. Sadly people only see dollar signs and have no regard for what new breeds they are out here trying to create.

Hippo is an approx 12 week old male puppy. He weighs 11 pounds currently. He is said to be a Shar Pei and Cocker Spaniel mix. We know by his Merle color there’s more blended in there as well.

He will be vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and neutered as part of his adoption.

Here’s the thing. Both breeds can be great family dogs but both can have issues with strangers. The shar pei in particular needs a very dedicated owner who will train early and lifelong. They have an attitude and can easily try to take over. We would not suggest a novice dog owner. He’s young enough to be a fantastic dog but it will only happen if the right family dedicates the time and effort to a proper raising and training process. If you’re looking for a cute easy puppy we can find you a different one. This guys not going to be easy!

Hippo loves to play with other dogs, he’s bossy and outgoing. He can already be very dominant with other dogs. He tries to dominate and hump other dogs. He hasn’t met any cats yet. He’s great with kids but again, pushy and dominant. He also jumps up and chews on hands like a wild puppy. He’s very loving and playful with everything and everyone currently.

He tries his best with potty training. He sleeps through the night in his crate and doesn’t have potty accidents in there. He has started going to the door to say he needs to go out. He does well with crate training and isn’t vocal unless he’s left in to long. He does well on car rides but is best crated as he can be busy and move around a lot. He is not yet leash trained. He is still very young and will need lots of work on this and all his training as he grows.

Hippo has a fairly high energy level. He will need lots of exercise along with mental and physical stimulation to keep him happy and well behaved. Tons of exercise and lots of training will help him be his best self.

He has not had any trouble sharing, food, treats, or toys with other dogs or people. He loves playing in pretty much any variety. He will play with you, toys, other dogs etc. he loves fetch, squeaky toys and even sticks he finds outside. He can make a toy or game out of anything.

If you’re up for the challenge of a pushy dominant breed mix then this guy might be the one. He’s tons of fun and tons of love. A really sweet boy in the right home.
