Iroh

MEET IROH!!

This little guy is so cute and sweet. He is super loving and ready to find his forever home.

He came to us with Zula (posted separately) Their family was unable to keep them. They do like each other however with them being unfixed and opposite sex we have separated them to avoid pregnancy. They do great apart and easily bond with other dogs.

Iroh is a 1 year old male. He is said to be a Yorkie and Pom mix. He weighs 13.5 pounds. He will be neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines as part of his adoption. He is thankfully heartworm negative and on monthly preventions.

When he arrived he was very dirty. He had a bath but still needs a grooming. He just got that done and looks so handsome. Some of his photos are from before the groom.

Iroh is a super cool little guy. When he arrived he was so shy we joked he was a stuffed animal and not a dog. He would try to stay as still as possible, as if you could not see him if he didn’t move. That all faded away within a few days and we are now seeing a sweet, happy, bouncy pup that wants all the attention.

He is great with other dogs. He’s fostered with large and small dogs. He is a bit shy with larger dogs at first but as soon as he sees they wont hurt him he is ready to play and hang out with them. He hasn’t been around cats so we aren’t sure how he would do. He came from a home with children and is supposed to be good with them. He does jump up on people but it’s not bad or overwhelming. He will need to be with kids that do not treat him like a toy.

Iroh appears to have never been on a leash before. He will need continued work to feel comfortable with it. He’s great on car rides. He is crate trained and does really well with it. He will try to bark/whine his way out but he stopped immediately when told NO and was very easy to correct about that.

He is doing really well with potty training however, he does tinkle a little when you reach to pick him up until he gets to know you. He gets better and better each day as he feels more comfortable. The first two days while he was adjusting and afraid he stayed in his kennel and used pee pads. When we have left him out in a room with pee pads he has not used them and gone outside to potty so we think he is most of the way there with potty training. He may regress some if he does not have an off leash place to potty but we do think he can learn. He will also wear belly bands without any issues if you want to use them during his initial fear tinkle stage.

He has a medium energy level. He loves to chill on the couch with you or relax on a comfy dog bed in the room you’re in. He can also be spunky and playful with other dogs. He’s excited to see you and will jump up on you to get attention at times. He will follow you around to get some pets or belly rubs but will quickly give up if you are busy and just lay at your feet and relax. He LOVES to be petted. He will wrap his paws around your arm to keep you petting him, it’s adorable.

Iroh has not shown any issues with people or other dogs about sharing his food, treats or toys. He does not overeat and you can leave a bowl of food out for him and he will eat when he wants to. He loves treats and is starting to really come out of his shell and be more playful and spunky.

He has so far not been a very loud of vocal dog. He did a valiant attempt to defend the yard from a “stranger” coming in recently. That consisted of some very brave barking and then immediately running away. LOL. This makes us think eventually he may verbally defend the home to people coming to the door but otherwise he doesn’t seem like a dog that will be yappie or too vocal.

We really like this little guy. He has a super sweet personality. He’s a good mix of chill and play. He absolutely wants to be your shadow but can handle being by himself. He is currently doing fine being crated during a full work day and we have come home to no potty messes in the kennel for several days in a row. He seems to really pick up the routine and house rules quickly.

♦️He will need regular grooming. This requires time to get him to and from the appointments and additional expenses to pay for it. On average a dog of this breed will need grooming every 6 weeks. This should be fully considered prior to applying to adopt him.♦️

Vet and home checks required.

Fenced potty area preferred as he is terrified of the leash currently.

Located in Hampton VA.
(He will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius)
