MEET MARY KATE & ASHLEY!!!
**Looking for SEPARATE homes**
We recently saved these adorable ladies from a full shelter. They were part of a hoarding situation and needed out of the shelter asap due to how many dogs they had to take in at once. Luckily we were able to get them here safely. They’ve been such sweet dogs since arriving.
They are both females and appear to be Dachshund mix. They are 16 and 18 pounds currently and should be full grown. The shelter had them listed as 9 months old. It appears both have had a litter so they may be slightly older. They seem younger so best guess 9 months to 1 year old.
They will get vaccines, dewormed, a microchip and spay as part of their adoption. They are both thankfully heartworm negative.
Due to their previous living situation, they are a bit behind on basic training but they are learning. They are very loving but will need a family willing to help them figure out the rest of their home training and manners.
Mary Kate is brindle and Ashley is brown and white. We do not know if they are related or not. They definitely would rather be apart and have been happily separated into different foster homes.
MARY KATE- Clingy and super loving. Adores her people. Will jump a baby gate to get to you. Can be very hyper and pushy with getting attention when you first get home or she’s excited. Doing great with other dogs. Not fostered with cats but shows no prey drive toward the Foster’s bunny through a fence. Whines on car rides but otherwise is good. Does fairly well on leash walking. No issues sharing food, treats or toys with humans or other dogs. Doing really well with potty training but can have an excited tinkle at times. Crate trained but whines a bit still. Nervous around kids so older kids would be best. When excited she jumps up all over you and has nipped her foster in the butt a few times. Not aggressively but she is very pushy with wanting attention from you. We are working to correct that but her new family will have to work with her as well. Fairly energetic but also loves her lap time. Loves zoomies and toys. Feisty, energetic, pushy love bug.
ASHLEY- Very sweet and happy girl. She lights up and the tail wags so fast when you give her attention. A tad shy at first but gets over that very quickly. Not fully potty trained. Has not been around cats. Good with other dogs but does some fear growling until she gets used to them. Hasn’t been fostered with kids but will likely do well with respectful children. A good mix of playful energy and snuggle time. She did great on car rides and is still learning about leash walking. She is crate trained and mostly quiet but seems to not like the dark. She has a funny little howl she will do at times but not excessive. She has still been having some potty accidents in the crate. Overall super sweet girl that’s going to be amazing with a little more training from her new family.
Both are very sweet and have a ton of potential. With a little more training they are going to make their new families very happy. They seem starved for attention and thats sadly typical of dogs from hoarding situations.
We do NOT adopt siblings (or potential siblings in this case) into the same family. Before commenting on how sad etc, you feel that is please google “littermate syndrome” so you can understand why we take this precaution. It is done in the best interest of the puppies. (These two already show signs of issues between each other while doing great with other dogs.)
Vet and home checks required.
Located in Hampton VA.
(They will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius)
