Meet Nemo!!

Sweet SPECIAL NEEDS BOY with lots of love to give!!

Nemo is only 20 pounds and looks like a 12 week old puppy, but in reality he’s closer to 1 year old. He’s the victim of unethical breeders trying to make “pocket pitbulls” and due to this he has several genetic flaws.

Despite his many issues he is able to function normally and is the sweetest, most loving boy! Everyone that meets him falls instantly in love with him.

Nemo is 1/3 the size he should be, and he has a deformed front left paw. His left rear femur is also shorter than his other so he doesn’t always place his rear foot on the floor. Both were X-rayed and the vet determined that surgical fixes were not appropriate as they would lead to pain for him and currently he is not in any pain. They feel he can live a normal and happy life just the way he is.

Nemo had to have a special type of neuter done and had a few teeth removed that grew in incorrectly. He does seem to have a slightly slower rate of understanding new things. He learns but needs a patient person that will understand he needs a little extra time to figure out what you want of him.

He lived in a wire crate his entire life until we rescued him. He has never known the life of a normal dog. He’s done well learning leash walking and does fine crated when needed. He does still potty in his crate bc it’s all he’s ever known. We are working hard on house training. He will try to use Pee pads if they are available.

Nemo does great on car rides. He loves all people and has never shown any aggression over anything. He loves other dogs but doesn’t always pick up on the social cues other dogs give. He needs a tolerant or playful dog that won’t mind him jumping on them etc. He has not been around cats. Hes very friendly and will do fine with kids however he is energetic and may jump up or run into young ones.

He is crazy excited to get out of his crate but as soon as you set him on the couch with you he just cuddles and sleeps. He’s 100 miles an hour to zero in a second lol. He’s been sleeping with his foster at night and he loves it. (He does snore 😂)

We would love to pair him up with a child or adult that may be seen by others as a little different. We truly believe Nemo could bring such joy and common ground to a special person in our community.
