Oreo

Meet Oreo!!  ADOPTED!!! ❤️🐾

We took a chance on Oreo and boy was he worth it!! He was almost put to sleep in a shelter but now he’s free to make his new family extremely lucky!!

Oreo is a 2 year old, male, Japanese Chin mix. He weighs approx 15 pounds.

I don’t say this often but this little guy is perfect. He is quiet, loving and cuddly. He’s goofy, playful and follows you all around.

Oreo is potty trained, crate trained and walks great on a leash. He hasn’t even tried to mark in the house. He’s great with being a lap dog but also happy to go wherever you go.

He is great in the car and seems happy to meet everyone. He’s been fine around the dogs we’ve introduced him to. We don’t have cats but with his overly chill personality I think he would do fine.

Really, someone please adopt him before I decide he has to stay here with me!😂

I can’t say enough about how easy and great this little guy is. A pleasure to have around as a foster.

Disclaimer: Oreo ended up on death row at the shelter bc a lady said he bit her. Reading the bite incident she saw him running stray and scared, cornered him and shoved a treat in his face which she said resulted in a very minor bite….

Since he’s been here I’ve been trying to get any kind of aggressive reaction out of him and I’m failing every time. He’s not even shy or scared at all. He came off a 5 hour transport to meet strangers by being completely happy and loving. I’ve cornered him, bathed him, clipped his nails, taken treats and food from his mouth, messed with his face, feet, tail and ears, grabbed him quickly, I just can’t get anything but love and happy. I can’t even get a growl or mean look out of him!

I truly do not think Oreo is a biter. Hes been extremely well balanced and eager for all love and attention. He sits on his back feet and begs for your attention with his two front feet.

He’s been around older kids and done great. I think he would do great with all ages of kids but due to having the bite history I think avoiding kids 5 and under would be in his best interest. We want to set him up for success since humans have failed him this far.

Oreo will be neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots as part of his adoption.

(I’ve done my best to clean him up but some of his fur still has a slight yellow color from laying in urine for so long at the shelter. I’ve cut all the mats from his hair and killed off the horrible flea infestation. His coat should continue to whiten up with time)

Vet and home checks required.

  1. I love the looks of Oreo. I have always been partial to females….my husband has always had the male dogs in our family. We currently live in West Point but are moving to Lancaster within the next 6 weeks. It wouldn’t be fair to take in a pup and then move as soon as he or she settled in. I lost my Pepper 6 months ago (minus 2 weeks) and my husband lost his Rafter in June of 2017. Rafter was a month shy of turning 18 and Pepper was 16 but only with us for 15 years. We are retired. My husband was a K-9 handler officer in Vermont. I ran a shelter in New Hampshire and was a veterinarian technician after that. If we were a fit with Oreo, would there be a way that he would only have to make the move to Lancaster instead of being in the midst of the turmoil of moving and bouncing between two houses? Where could we meet him? What is your schedule? What is the adoption fee?
