Meet Toby!!
Stunning in appearance and so well behaved!! He is ready for a new family!
Tony is a 1-2yr old, male, plott hound and lab mix. He weighs 40 pounds.
He was adopted from a local shelter but his new mom was very allergic to him and sadly couldn’t keep him. We made contact with the shelter and have their blessing to find him a safe new home. His Rehoming fee will be donated back to the shelter he came from.
Toby is very well behaved. He’s shy at first but warms up very quickly. He’s gentle and sweet. He hasn’t been jumping up on people. He has also been quiet in the home.
He is potty trained but does have a nervous tinkle when first removed from the kennel. This goes away after a few days once he starts to feel safe.
Toby is crate trained, and walks well on a leash. He is nervous in the car but just lays down and pants a bit. He truly enjoys helping plush toys meet their demise.
He was living with a small dog and did great. He recently met a big dog and also did great. He’s done well with kids. We do not know how he will do around cats but he saw one outside on his walk and had no reaction. He is very focused on his person and seems eager to please. He’s overall a great and patient dog.
Toby is fully vetted, neutered and microchipped.
Vet and home checks required.

I am interested in Toby. I adopted a 6yr old cat on Thanksgiving, so I do need him to be “cat tested”. I am retired and can give a dog lots of attention, as well as long daily walks in a large city park I live close to in Richmond. I have a fenced yard and a basketful of plush toys. Would appreciate anything further you can tell me about the cat dynamic. Thank you!
Hi! Happy New Year and thank you for your interest in Toby. Luckily for Toby, he has found a wonderful home. If you go to Village Dog Resource on Facebook you will find all the dogs we have available right now. Good luck and thank you for adopting!
I have expressed an interesting Toby, but I would also be interested in Annie. Could I please be sent an application. My foxhound mix died in September and I would love to adopt another dog. I do have a cat, so that is my only requirement really. I have a fenced in yard, close to large park (dog would live inside, of course) and I am retired. I do not have a Facebook account and I don’t know how to navigate that site.
Thank you.
