Mona

Meet Mona!!

She was saved from an awful hoarding situation and is now ready for a home of her own.

Mona is a 4 1/2 year old Lab and Dachsund mix, yes, you read that right. Lol. She’s approx 45 pounds.

She is a low energy dog. She will run with the other dogs but prefers laying on the couch.

Mona loves kids, cats and all people. She’s good with other dogs but can be scared at first so slow introductions are required. She was the smallest dog in the hoarders home and got beat up on. Once she sees the other dog is safe she does well.

She is not destructive and loves deer antlers and bully stickers. She plays with toys sometimes but gets bored with them quickly. She is leash trained, crate trained and potty trained. She is good in the car but is scared to get in the car on her own.

Mona is spayed, up to date on shots and microchipped.

She is super sweet and loving. She’s a little timid at times but is learning to trust and love again after her awful home life before.

Vet and home checks required.

    1. I just heard back from person in charge of adoptions. She said Mona has been adopted, but we will have a very similar dog coming to us in January named Annie.

      1. We are looking for a dog who is 1-4 years old, good with children, good with other dogs. Our 15 yr old black lab, Ellie Mae (a rescue) passed away last December so now after a year of mourning we are ready for a new canine member of the family. We had had other dogs prior to Ellie Mae, but she was our first lab and we’ve become enchanted with that breed for their temperament.
We live on a cul-de-sac in a neighborhood with small children and other dogs next door. Our own “child” is away at college, I am semi-retired working 3.5 hours 4 days a week, and my husband still works full time. We are definitely dog people and will offer a loving home with an invisible fence and many other advantages to a new pet who needs a new home and would fit in with our family.
What kind of dog is Annie and what is her background/story? January would be a perfect time for us as we go away for the holidays and would prefer not to have to board a dog who is new to us thereby bringing on new fears of abandonment to that dog.
Thank you so much for working with us.

        1. I agree 100% about labs! Your Ellie Mae sounds as if she fit right in the Lovable Lab category. I have sent your comment to the person in charge of adoptions and am waiting to hear back from her. I know she has been really busy – they’ve taken in two Moms with litters. I (or she) will contact you back as soon as we have more information.
